Time for Positive Change

For many years I was an avid collector of watches. Which now explains why I have a collection of rugged  functional pieces principally aimed at the Pilot or aviation enthusiast. My collection started with a simple Swatch I picked up in Malaysia,  and over the years it reached the dizzying heights of high end Swiss pieces with stunning mechanical complications.

A few months ago, after a few weeks of  carefully considering all the reasons not to,  I took the plunge and bought Jane and I, Apple iWatches. Whilst lacking the outright class and sophistication of a certified Swiss Mechanical Chronometer, they have a broad range of very useful functionality.  The combination of Apple iPhone and iWatch produces a really seamless blend of function and form. Introducing into that mix a very smart friend, makes the whole setup a good deal more interesting.

My colleague from work, Mr. K, an Apple Guru and IT expert, was kind enough to lend his Development Skills, to investigate an idea for an iWatch complication.

With no experience of iWatch development Mr. K. set about turning my Positive Wall into an iWatch app….And he nailed it.

We took the phrases and comments on my Positive Wall, and  distilled them into spreadsheet. This was then turned into a database via some kind of IT magic and to compound the mystery, apparently it now lives in a Cloud somewhere.

At various points throughout the day when I glance at my watch, the custom iWatch Complication, that Mr. K. Christened “Go Girlfriend” pulls one of  the phrases from the database and slides it onto the watch face . So as well as knowing the time, I am also prompted to consider the astonishing level of support and love that people have shown me.

The beauty of this is, there is a double whammy of positivity. Firstly there is the message, then secondly I am reminded of the time and effort Mr. K. put in, to learn a new device and make the idea a reality.

I salute your intellect Mr. K. The end result is effective and uplifting.

Thank you !!!!
