How Times Change……..

In July, Jane and I are heading over to Melbourne to hear one of my favourite authors speak. Its going to be an interesting event, but it also presents us with a great opportunity to explore Melbourne.

Although I have been there before, it was for the briefest of stop overs, during which I collected a Motorcycle to ride home to WA. What this means is, that my experience of Melbourne is only marginally more extensive than Jane, who has only flown over the city en-route to Sydney.

So this morning with flights booked, and a hotel reserved, I suggested that Jane could have a look at some things we could do whilst we are there. She began reeling off lists of museums, galleries, day trips and wineries. After hearing maybe a dozen options, I  quietly asked….”Are there any Fabric shops ?”

It would seem that the changes are much more than skin deep 🙂

My kind of girl! Fabric, fabric, fabric!
You can never have enough. Not much can surpass the heady feeling when you enter a good fabric shop. The heartbeat quickens, the palms get a little sweaty and your mouth a little dry.
Just the touch of fabric, the smell of it and the look of it is enough to transport you to another place where everything is wonderful. What does it matter that your cupboards are bursting at the seams, there is always just that little extra that you just have to have.
L’uccello is a must see, as is Tessuti’s. Depends what you are after.
Lots and lots of Quilting shops, just Google them as too many to list.
Suzanne, I totally get asking about fabric shops because as you might have guessed, it is usually the first question that I ask.
You will have so much fun.

I’ve set aside some time for a day out on the Great Ocean Road. My ideal ride is to belt down to Lorne via the inland route then after a leisurely lunch, ride up the GOR to Geelong, then on to Melbourne. Often this beats the traffic jams and rubberneckers on the way.
Is a sleep over at my place out of the question?
That way we can savour some pretty awesome restaurants in Sunbury or possibly a steak dinner at my joint….who knows, my mother might even put breakfast on again…another favorite place of mine to dine…
The weather will have a big part to play as far as a bike ride goes. We’ll need to plan that as the dates draw closer. Fabric Shops…not my purview but I’m pretty sure Sunbury isn’t known for its haberdasheries….
You have my numbers, call or email….
