Twin Progress on Twin Restoration

Over the last week or so there has been a steady trickle of parts arriving for Penelope.

The biggest single package was the reproduction seat, that looks like it will fit perfectly, and looks very smart when offered up for “Dry Assembly”. There have also been some smaller packages arriving with items such as the beautiful Triumph badges for the tank, and some decals for the side panels. There was also the wonderfully stylish Heatsink for the Zener Diode.

I’ve done a little more work on rubbing back the fuel tank, and also cleared a space, where I can work well out of the way of the crazy intense Sun we have been experiencing for the last few weeks.

Despite having been signed off work for the last fortnight,  I have not had the energy to engage in restoration work. The regime of medication I am currently prescribed has been tweaked, and the result has been spectacularly unpleasant.

For example today, I was still asleep until around mid day, and even when vertical I wasn’t functioning with any degree of effectiveness until late afternoon.

I get bad days and worse days. Focus and energy varies from abysmal to shocking.  But this is not a negative post. Overall once my response to the changes in medication have settled down the outcome is going to be spectacularly positive.

I continue to work on achieving small goals every day, from little bits of creative writing, through to making small dents in the vast pile of household chores I have neglected for months.

Earlier this week, a friend assured me that my feelings of revulsion for myself  are perfectly normal, “You haven’t cornered the market in those !” she told me. It was reassuring and frustrating simultaneously. Reassuring because sharing an experience is always so much easier. Frustrating because I really don’t want to think of myself as grotesque any more, even if being hard on oneself is normal.

At the risk of repeating myself and sounding like the Proverbial broken record player….

“I will get through this, please stick with me.”

Thanks.
