Later today Jane and I are going to watch the latest Blockbuster Super Hero Movie. “Wonder Woman”
It’s no secret, that since her Cancer Diagnosis, and the powerful way in which she shrugged off the silent killer, I have referred to Jane as Wonder Woman, so it will be interesting to see what Hollywood has done with Jane’s story.
I really do have no idea where the director and writer of this movie found out about Jane, but for the character to be true to form, the onscreen Heroine needs a good deal more than an invisible aircraft and a rather revealing Red costume. I’ve been right through Janes’s wardrobe this morning and the closest thing I can find to the garment I’ve seen in the trailers is her High School gym kit. I am pretty sure this hasn’t been worn for several decades, so it looks like the film makers have gone to town with their artistic licence.
Those of us fortunate enough to have had our lives touched by Jane will know that she exudes patience, calmness and compassion in immense quantities. At the very least the on Screen Wonder Woman needs to portray these qualities.
Jane’s patient work that spans many years, with Children of all ages, has made a such a huge difference to so many lives in both the UK and Australia that Super Hero status is not in doubt. Superman can’t get close to the number of Children who have been lifted to great heights by Jane’s tireless efforts.
It seems like Hollywood has added a fair bit of action into the story. Here the movie really is reflecting our lives. Travelling with me across Australia in a World War Two Sidecar outfit she worked hard to keep all three wheels on the deck, she manned the Spotlight at night and generally did everything possible to keep us safe. Jane is also pretty handy with a 12 Gauge Under and Over Shotgun, and regularly hits both clay targets after calling “Pull.” Her prowess with a full on firearm provides further evidence of Super Powers, as I have never once seen her shoot with her eyes open or even looking remotely in the same direction as the targets.
From a personal perspective I remain immensely grateful to my Wonder Woman for remaining by my side and supporting us both with her apparently endless reserves of strength.
Partner, Mother, Grandmother, Carer, Teacher, Chef, Reluctant Dominatrix, there really is no end to her talents.
I will watch the movie, but take great pride in knowing that sat next to me in the Cinema, is the real deal…A genuine Wonder Woman.
