So Happy I could Dance…..So I will…

In my younger days I  will confess to having a certain fondness for a lovely group of Singing Sisters called the “Nolans.”

One of their big hits was “I’m in the mood for Dancing” a catchy 80s Disco tune that still makes me smile when I hear it now…

I guess its probably no surprise to learn, that at the time, I desperately wanted to be a Nolan Sister….I didn’t want to be rich, or famous, I just wanted to sing and dance with a group of people that looked like they were having  really good time, and if I could be staggeringly pretty in an 1980s Blue Eyeshadow and leg warmers kind of way, then that would be nice too,

Of course, I wouldnt have said no to being a Member of Led Zeppelin, or even Marillion, except they didn’t have the sparkly outfits and bubbly Sisters, and beside which my keyboard skills in those days were proably more Nolan Sisters than John Paul Jones.

What is interesting, is that despte being completely without grace and poise,  I still have a remarkable fondness for, and desire to Dance. I may not be built for it, and my joints damaged from a couple of nasty Motorcycle collisons don’t work as smoothly as they once did, but my desire to develop the fluid, graceful movements of a professional dancer are as strong now, as they were back in the 80s.

This being said, I am delighted to report, that once again I am receiving expert Dance Tuition.  The difference between now and then of course, is that now, I feel no Shame in admitting it….

Of course, I’d like to be smaller, I’d like to be fitter, and I’d like to be able to move my legs without the accompanying crunchy, clicky noises that drown out the percussion. But Dance makes me happy. and so regardless of how hopeless I am, I’m going to keep doing it.

This post is dedicated to the Wonderful Soul who is teaching me so much more than Dance……

Thankyou xo

Oh, and if you have a minute or three to spare, check out the Nolans below 🙂
