The treatment is quite simple. I just needed a small collection of various cremes and cleaning substances, a large pile of soft lint free cloths, and about 25 square meters (approx.) of Chrome..
The results have been well beyond expectations. For both myself, and Sanuye, the Indian Chief Vintage. Both of us are showing clear signs of improvement. The Motorcycle in actual fact is looking incredibly beautiful, having benefitted from many hours of tender polishing and attention.
There is much work still to do on both of us, but the progress is reassuring.
I am starting to regret not having sent the original, and seriously faded Leather back to Indian, for re-dying. At the time, which was about 4 years ago, some of the other riders who opted for the re-dye, reported variable quality in the work and I elected not to risk it. Having looked at the leather for the last couple of weeks I’ve decided to investigate other options for restoring some colour because I think she deserves it…
The bike remains for sale, although perhaps now, I will be markedly less bothered if nobody wants to buy her…
In the meantime, I will continue the polishing with a renewed vigour because later next week, Sanuye and I will be responding to a heartfelt request. So we both need to look our very best at a Birthday Surprise for a young man in serious need of a boost. I hope it all works out…
