Lost and Found

Jane and I have just spent Eight days riding across Australia  on a lump of pre war designed Russian Steel.

It turns out this activity is apparently good for you.

We ploughed through some pretty harsh conditions, got bogged once, broke down twice, spoke to lots of nice people, covered > 5000 kilometres, filled up about 500 times, and, I am delighted to report I even managed to avoid chipping my new nails during the spanner twirling repairs.

We both spent much time smelling of petrol, oil and squashed bugs. Whilst not a pleasant smell, it was at least handy for keeping at bay the large numbers of wistful and melancholy looking West Coast Eagles fans who we bumped into at various fuel stops along the way, all of whom spent a great deal of time staring into their coffee and muttering about being robbed……..

I also managed get fairly dehydrated, which resulted in some unpleasant symptoms the descriptions of which are best left in Ceduna, where I spent some time recovering.

So what did we loose and what did we find ?

Somewhere in Perth Airport, I left my favourite and not quite one year old Ray Bans, I’m missing them, if I am squinting next time you see me, this is why….

Somewhere between the Nullarbor Roadhouse and Norseman, which is a distance of around 1000 km, I discovered a vast supply of self confidence and its going to really help.
