In the last entry I mentioned that there were a couple of noteworthy events beyond my chaotic working week, which by the way, became considerably more chaotic and considerably less pleasant as the week drew to a close…..
On Thursday evening Jane and I were scheduled to go out for dinner with our good friends R&D, and no this was not a research and development evening, I just use initials to preserve peoples privacy…The venue was a splendid establishment in Bunbury that has become a firm favourite, for its well prepared food, and attentive, friendly service.
A late afternoon appointment with the talented LB who, over the last 12 months has worked minor miracles with my hair, involved a conversation that went something like this…
Me….”So are you going to do the same as usual ?”
LB….”Well you are going out for dinner, so I thought we would try something different.”
I immediately sought validation and looked across at Jane who had just had her hair trimmed, and was still sat in the hairdressers chair, patiently waiting for my hair colour to do whatever it has to do whilst the timer ticks away….She smiled and suggested something along the lines, that it was my hair, my choice, but she thought it was a great idea.
I gave LB the thumbs up and she set set to work, I really didn’t know what to expect, until Linda started talking about pins and “Wearing it up.” It was novel sensation. I’ve often wondered about the purpose of Bobby Pins beyond using them to pick locks, and as my hair rapidly filled up with dozens of them, I was duly educated. I could tell by the look on Jane’s face as I glanced across that she approved. It felt fantastic, but I wasn’t prepared for my response when I looked in the mirror ! I think it was something like “Wow. Is that really my hair…?” I was amazed. “Is that really my head ?”
LB showed me the back of the “Up Do” with a second mirror and I was absolutely stunned. It really didn’t seem possible it was me. For the second time in as many days I was once again Happy after a glance in the mirror. I fact, I was beyond Happy.
Miss Australia doesn’t need to worry about me competing anytime soon, but LB had made me feel incredibly special, possibly even sophisticated and once again my gratitude is endless.
The evening went well. We chatted, laughed, ate, and drank..
I was wearing a dress made out of something I call “Hmmmmm” and had my hair in my first ever Up Do. To be honest I could have eaten a week old Big Mac and still have been just as happy…
Thank you LB 🙂 xoxoxox
