I’ve loved Dr. Who for years…..Even when it got really bad, and the Alien protagonist was made out of Liquorice Allsorts (Yes Really)
This week my passion has moved up a gear. Seriously I am delighted they have finally got round to changing the Gender of Dr. Who…..
The only worries I have are around the impact this Transition may have on some of the storylines……
I’m assuming as a Timelord, the Dr. has already satisfied all of the medical requirements, because before my own Gender Transition, the paperwork was a nightmare. The magic of television can help here and we could see the current Dr. in a beautiful soft focus montage, working through the mandatory form filling and Psych sessions before his regeneration.
Then there is the Hormone treatment…..Based on my personal experience this means we can look forwards to at least 2 seasons of not much action, and quite a lot of tears as the Dr. becomes familiar with her new body.
There will also be the initial moments when she hesitates to leave the Tardis. Not because she is scared of the Daleks, but because she is scared of what they might think of her….Of course we all know they don’t care what she looks like, all they care about is who she really is. But you try believing that the first time you open the front door in a Frock…
The assistants will support and encourage, I know this to be true also, and again some clever camera work and good soundtrack can sell this image beautifully.
After watching 12 Doctors, battle with dark secrets, now it all makes sense. It really is great to finally see this truth revealed. We can look forwards to a happier, more well balanced Dr.
Congratulations to the BBC and of course Dr. Who on finally becoming who you really are…..
