Yellow and Blues

I challenged myself today….I challenged myself, and I lost.

I told myself I would try on the various outfits I have for the forthcoming Wedding, and I told myself I would feel good about them.

The outcome was not as I planned and I have been compelled to re-evaluate.

A few years ago, I met a Photographer called Frank,  who also bought and sold high quality German cameras. He was eccentric, very musical, and immensely likeable, we got on incredibly well. So much so, that with our house uninhabitable after the 2007 flood, he went out of his way to look after us. We stayed with him, for a while,  and we became good friends.

Frank had many stories from his photo shoots, and he was always delighted to share them with me. He once told me of a  Wedding he photographed, one of the guests,  asked him why her photograph was not as nice as a photograph of another lady,  taken on the same day, at the same event,  he replied.  “Madam, if I point my camera at  a Pig, I get a photograph of a Pig !”  I was shocked, I couldn’t imagine talking to someone like that. Like I said, he was a little eccentric.

Frank’s Pig comment has stayed with me all this time, and today, after some reflection I believe  he has a valid point…..I am what I am.

The challenge I should have set myself is not to try and  feel good about what I look like, the real challenge is to accept it for what it is.

There will be an official photographer at the Wedding, and if I could I would share with her Frank’s wisdom.  Don’t waste time trying to find the right angle with me, there isn’t one.

So I have less than two weeks to come to terms with being a gruesome, bloated, hideous Pig, a Pig In Lipstick if you will,  but with  some really rather nice clothes.
