Sunset Tells of Change

Busselton is a very special place, regardless of the time of day, or season, there is always something beautiful to look at.  However there is one moment each day, when we can come to realise just how lucky we are to be here..Sunset.

Over the years that we have lived in this part of the World, we have been treated to some truly sublime experiences when the Sun gently kisses the Indian Ocean at the end of the day. The spectacle never gets old. We can enjoy a constantly shifting palette of vivid colours, that nature uses to mark the end of another day as the seasons change…

There is something enormously satisfying about a Sunset, that appeals to me on a very deep level. So much so, that I named one of my Indian Motorcycles “Sanuye” a Native American name that translates, to “Red sky that comes at Sunset”

A Sunset also speaks of change, a transition, with no Sunset there is no Sunrise and that can’t be healthy. Change is eternal, and to ignore that fact, is to set yourself up for some unpleasant surprises…And that is where I am right now. I’m watching a Sunset and preparing for the New Dawn.

Because I have a passion for Science Fiction that borders on the obsessive (thanks Jane) I’m going to liken my current scenario to the guys standing on the Transporter Platform on the Enterprise. They are ready to go, leaving the relative safety of the iconic Starship, and waiting for one word…One very carefully chosen word. As many of you will know the command is “Energise.” It may just mean “Turn the Transporter On” But I think there is a good deal more going on with that one word than the writers realise.

In that single word the crew are primed…Get ready for change, brace yourself, there is something new coming and it may be Beautiful, Scary, Hostile or Magnificent. We don’t know which, so you better be prepared for all of those things.

Having moved on so far in my journey in recent months, I will build on that momentum. A bright new day can bring fresh light, new ideas, and show new directions…

I’m going to do two things, as I prepare myself for “Beaming”

Firstly I’m going to make sure I avoid Red Shirts (you may need to be a Geek to get this one) and Secondly I’m going to understand that wherever it is I am going, it may not be straightforward, but I will be going there boldly. (I don’t like to split infinitives either)

“Energise”

Great post Suzanne, I so admire your courage. Denise had to google the red shirt thing and I do vaguely remember them. Keep up the positivity, as you pointed out on Thursday evening we may not be entirely normal but who wants to be normal anyway? xx

Thank you so very, very much for sharing this Suzanne. It is almost as if your words are written for me (excluding references to your beautiful bikes), Recently my start ship (although not quite iconic) engaged from space dock on a voyage of self discovery. The transporters are hard at work and nervous (“secretly” anxious?) expectation has not left me. Each time I energise the experience leads me to new realisation very often rehashing, challenging and building on the base of former perception. I know that I cannot – must not try to – ever go back and will never be who or where I was ever again. Surfing entropy herself beyond the sun to cleanse me of my pain and further explore the turbid realms of my soul long hidden from myself. For me, the journey is to re-engage with my born strength and to transform (and occasionally destroy) my fear with compassion for myself and altruism for others. I owe you many thanks and unparalleled gratitude for sharing your captains personal log. Race you to the third star on the left – the Romulan Ale is on me.
