So what happens if……………

Yesterday was an incredibly challenging day. I won’t get into details, but after a long day in Perth, sandwiched between a very lengthy drive at either end of the day,  I returned home and collapsed into an undignified heap for a bit of a cry. I was physically and emotionally drained by a visceral reminder that the rest of My world has moved on far faster than I have.

This evening I received a much needed boost in the form of an hour with my amazing counsellor D. Towards the end of the session she asked me a question to which I had no immediate answer. I need to spend a couple of days really thinking about the simple scenario she proposed. I won’t share the question here yet, but I will once I am able to provide an answer.

In other news, the prod I needed to initiate real change in my life has produced some action. After a brief hiatus, I’ve restarted my program of exercise at home, and of course I continue to work with my amazing PT.

Todays session with my Trainer was hard. A full upper body workout with some serious weights. Serious is of course a variable….To me the freezing cold Bar that weighs 20 Kilos before any extra weights are added is already serious. That I was able to cover the 30 or so paces from the Gym back to the car at the end of the session should be considered a real win. My legs may have been shaky, but compared to my arms, they were positively outstanding. I drove all the way home in first gear because my left arm refused to budge when I asked for second gear. It was  clearly sulking from being asked to pick up something heavier than a decent sized mug of tea so early.

My work towards a Grade 5 in Music Theory continues. I wish I found it as easy to pen a simple melodic phrase as I do to  produce a sentence in my blog. But I am not giving up. I have two musical ambitions  –

Firstly to introduce the good people of Busselton to the Theremin, by a public performance of Christmas music….Preferably at Christmas.

Secondly to record and proudly share, an original composition of electronic music. I have a few ideas for this, including something I am working on , that I am calling “Mooglight Sonata” Inspired by the pioneering work of Wendy Carlos. I’m intent on  giving a  retro modern twist to a Beethoven classic. It may have been done before, but not by me, and not with a Sub 37 and a Voyager XL…..

Finally I should report that my love affair with the current range of  Indian Motorcycles has run its course. The development of their machines seems to have shifted to ever more outrageously and ostentatiously  styled versions of the bikes that were launched 5 years ago. Beautiful as they maybe, I cannot get excited by yet another colour scheme or luggage variation. I’m not saying that I won’t look at anything new that drops out of the factory, especially if it is a really nice Flat Tracker, but for now I have moved on. Making progress is definitely not about standing still. With this in mind my original 2014 Indian is up for sale, and I feel pretty good to be making a change.  I’m confident that once I have finally finished the 1956 Triumph project upon which the whole concept of this Blog is built, I will be ready to tackle a 1950s Indian from the Springfield MA factory.

A fascination with German motorcycles that started with our 9,000 kms. cross continental trip on a  clone of a Pre-War BMW continues to grow. I am devouring literature and photographs of this equally historic marque at a prodigious rate. I’m immensely grateful that I am no longer  anchored to any pre-conceived notions or hampered by  “mauvaise foi” as  this gives me the ability to experience so much more with an open mind…..

Its time to turn in and give some serious thought to a simple question with a potentially complex solution……
