Pick Me Up or Put Me Down – Please.

There is a gentleman locally who has, what I consider to be a rather unpleasant role. He euthanises animals, usually Kangaroos, that are seriously injured when struck by vehicles. This is I believe, from anecdotal evidence a distressingly frequent occurrence.

His job is seen as Humane, he is relieving suffering and ending the life of the creature as swiftly and as painlessly as he can.

I’m tempted to go and lie down by the side of the road and wait, but apparently he doesn’t do people, no matter how much metaphysical pain they are in.

Broken spirits are far less visible than twisted fractured limbs and a good deal more challenging to wrap in plaster casts. It is not easy to hold a spirit together till until nature knits the shattered ends, and produces a rigid whole once more.

I’m Way Beyond Blue. I’m Down, but not out, and if anyone has a plaster cast that will fit my battered soul, I would be very keen to try it. In the meantime writing a research paper and building some Lego will have to do.

Suzanne this latest post has given me more than a few moments of concern this afternoon. What to say in order to help but not make the situation worse.
An analogy using your much loved Indian Motorcycle came to mind.
It’s a beautiful day and you’re off on a long ride. The Indian is purring along when all of a sudden a massive pothole swallows the front wheel. You manage to hold on as your beautiful bike falls on its side, scratched, dented and broken.
Now the question is, do you give up on the bike and walk away leaving the Indian to it’s unfortunate fate?
I don’t think that you would. It has too much value, you have put an awful lot of time into caring for this machine. Sometimes it has given you a few headaches but friends and family have always admired the beauty, the power and the history of this ‘one of a kind’ bike.

Don’t be a ‘fair weather friend’ to yourself Suzanne. Remember your value to family, friends and most of all yourself. You wouldn’t give up on the Indian so don’t give up on yourself. There are just too many great rides to enjoy. There will be crappy potholes some days just like the ones we all try to avoid. Most times we will succeed in avoiding them but there will be days when those potholes threaten to swallow us whole. The trick is to climb out and get back on our bikes.

Keep doing the Lego Suzanne. There is something very comforting in building a structure of your own design.

When you feeling blue, all you got to do is to start singing 🙂 and perhaps a little cha-cha-cha 🙂

Your words allow us to hold your battered soul, softly and tenderly. No need for a plaster cast, that stops the loving warmth from seeping through.
